Last week, John Mueller of Google responded in a Google Webmaster Help thread about Wix and search and he said it "works fine." John said, "WIX websites work fine in search."
Here is the full statement:
WIX websites work fine in search. There are a lot of different setups for new websites. I wouldn't focus too much on a single provider, but rather think about the bigger picture: which will make it easiest for you to maintain your site (adding / changing content)? If you're getting help from others for your site, is there one that they have experience in, which might make it easier / cheaper? Which one offers the features that you think you'll need in the mid-term? There are probably a few options that could work for you, so maybe it makes sense to just try some of them out and see which one works best for you -- websites are websites for Google :)
Other Thoughts
I agree with Patrick, being 'fine' is not the same as being good or even being properly setup.
1. WIX as of yet does not allow SSL (a negative for SEO).
2. Wix cannot properly connect or track adwords (bad if you're thinking of doing any marketing or management).
3. Wix only ranks well with a great deal of tweaking and managing and doesn't even come close to WordPress in terms of ease of that ranking. Spending the same amount of time on both would yield HIGHLY different results with WordPress well outweighing WIX.
Part of an SEO HERO's job is to understand your business and the target demographic you are seeking to attract. Casting a wide net will bring in tons of traffic but if that traffic is pointed towards the purpose of your online presence, it will do little good to have all those extra hits no your server. In fact, attracting the wrong customers on a consistent basis will have a negative effect on your overall conversion rates. Not to mention doing very little for brand building as customers come to recognize you as a false positive for their search needs. Contact SEO experts in Chicago, IL.
